Frank Lampard

Frank Lampard

Frank James Lampard, born 20 June 1978, is a retired English footballer and a legend of Chelsea FC. Having played 13 years with the club and being their all-time leading goal scorer, Lampard is one of the best footballers to ever have played for Chelsea, and regarded by some as one of the greatest midfielders of his generation.

Lampard kicked off his football career with West Ham United in 1997, which happened to be the same club his father had played at during his footballing career. In the season after his debut, Lampard helped West Ham finish in 5th position on the Premier League table, the club's highest-ever placing. In 2001, Lampard moved to Chelsea for £11 million, where he stayed for 13 years playing for their first team. His involvement in the club was a key factor in securing the 2004-05 and 2005-06 Premier League titles. With a new contract in 2008, Lampard became the highest paid player in the EPL. In 2012, he captained Chelsea in their first UEFA Champions League win, and in 2013 he helped them secure the UEFA Europa league title. After Lampard's release from Chelsea at the end of the 2013-14 season, he played for Manchester City until his retirement. Lampard now serves as team captain on an ITV sport panel show called ‘Play to the Whistle'.

Lampard has experienced much success in his footballing career, winning Chelsea player of the year three times, and becoming one of only 7 players (and the only midfielder) to have scored over 150 goals in the Premier League. He also holds the 2nd position for the most amount of assists in the Premier League, with retired Manchester United player Ryan Giggs coming in first. In 2005, Lampard was awarded the FWA footballer of the year award, and received a further tribute award in 2010. Playing internationally for the English national team, Lampard has been capped 106 times since 1999 and has a total of 29 international goals. He has also earned himself England player of the year awards in 2004 and 2005. Lampard has played at 3 world cups and holds the record for best penalty taker for the English national team, having scored 9 goals off penalties. Having won 13 trophies throughout his career, Lampard will always be remembered as one of the great players of his generation. Although it may no longer be possible to see Lampard play live, it is certainly not too late to see Chelsea. Book your Chelsea tickets to see this amazing team in action from Doctor Ticket!
