Jermain Defoe

Jermain Defoe
Jermain Colin Defoe was born October 7 1982, and is a professional footballer and striker for Sunderland FC. Jermain Defoe did not have a privileged upbringing, growing up in council housing in Beckton London. With an alcoholic father and a poor socioeconomic status, Defoe attributes much of his success to his mother who kept him away from crime and focused on football. At a young age, he joined the Sunday league team Senrab, well known for producing top quality Premier League Players.

Defoe began his career with Charlton Athletic, joining their youth team at 14 years of age. At 16, he joined West Ham United, debuting for their first team in the year 2000. After West Ham were relegated in 2003, Defoe signed with Tottenham Hotspur FC in January 2004, playing for the club for 4 years before being sold to Portsmouth in January 2008, and returning back again during the 2009 transfer window. In 2014, Defoe joined Major League Soccer in Canada, playing for Toronto FC before returning to England and signing with Sunderland in January 2015

In April 2011, Defoe became the 20th player to score a century of Premier League goals, and in September 2013 he became the 5th highest goal scorer in Tottenham history. Defoe debuted for the English national team in 2004 and now has over 50 international appearances, including 3 at the 2010 FIFA World Cup during which he scored a goal. Despite his age and challenges, Defoe is still proving to the world that he belongs on the football pitch. Want to see Defoe play live? Book your Sunderland tickets from Doctorticket today!
